WHITE CO., Ill. - Illinois State Police officials say the man involved in a high-speed incident on Illinois Route 141 in White County was driving erratically right before the crash that took his life.
ISP District 19 said the fatal accident happened at 12 noon today (Thursday, June 15) on Route 141 approximately a quarter-mile east of County Road 350E in White County.
Preliminary traffic crash investigation shows that Jaylen Ryan Kurtz, 23, of Henderson, Kentucky, was in a 1999 Acura passenger car westbound on 141 at a high rate of speed and passing other vehicles, when he lost control of the car and drove off the north side of the roadway.
Once off the roadway, the vehicle struck several trees.
Kurtz was pronounced deceased at the crash scene by the White County Coroner.
The vehicle sustained major damage and had to be towed from the scene.
ISP District 19 was assisted at the crash by the White County Sheriff's Department, White County Coroner's Office, White County EMS, Medic One EMS, Carmi Fire Department, and Don's Bumper to Bumper.
