CARMI, Ill. - Carmi police were busy Tuesday with a gal going through a divorce who has an OP against her, and a guy who had coins - in a Crown Royal bag - taken from his vehicle.
The first incident to occur was the OP call, which came in at 6:07 p.m. May 16. Authorities report that Betty L. Irvin, 55, of an address on the 600 block of North Fourth Street, was at a location on the 200 block of Herbert Street in Carmi, in violation of an order of protection filed by Bradley W. Irvin, who in late April filed for divorce in White County from Ms. Betty.
She was taken into custody on two misdemeanor counts of Violation of OP and Violation of Stalking/No-Contact Order.
She's currently in the White County Jail awaiting posting of bond.
Then at 9:50, Carmi dispatch received a call from a location on the 400 block of Fourth Street, where the reporting party, Patrick W. Yates, 47, advised that a car on the premises had been broken into and a Crown Royal bag full of change had been stolen. On the report, it was listed that the victim was Yates' 17-year-old son. The type of vehicle wasn't disclosed. It was, however, noted as having been unlocked at the time of the break-in and theft.
