CARMI: Man arrested on counterfeit money warrant

CARMI, Ill. - Carmi authorities report they've affected a warrant arrest on a man wanted for allegations of passing counterfeit $100 bills...after catching him on his bicycle.

Carmi police report that on Friday (May 5) at 1:43 p.m., an officer traveled to a residence on the 400 block of Seventh Street in Carmi, believing that a suspect, David Brockett, 43, was in that residence.

Brockett was wanted on a warrant for forgery, passing counterfeit $100 bills.

When the officer arrived, Brockett took off out the back door and headed down the alley on a bicycle; officers report he ignored verbal commands to stop.

The responding officer caught up with him in the squad car at Eighth and Smith and placed Brockett under arrest.

Brockett was additionally charged with possession of meth after a baggy was found in his pocket containing a small amount of a suspicious substance, which field-tested positive for meth.
