RICHLAND CO., Ill. - A two-vehicle collision this morning in the northbound lane of Illinois Route 130 has left one driver dead and another cited this morning in Richland County.
Illinois State Police said the accident happened at 9:28 a.m. this morning, Friday, April 21, 2017.
According to preliminary reports, a blue 1997 Peterbilt truck-tractor/semi trailer being driven by Larry W. Pitts, no age or address given, was northbound on Route 130 and attempting to turn left onto County Road 400 North (Otterbein Lane).
A blue 2000 Hyundai Elantra being driven by Richard W. Rosche, no age or address given, was southbound on Route 130 at the same location, which is about two miles south of the Calhoun turn and a couple of miles north of the Parkersburg curves.
The two vehicles struck each other in the southbound lane of travel of 130.
The Richland County Coroner pronounced Rosche deceased at the scene of the crash.
Further investigation of the crash is pending; however, ISP has cited Pitts for Improper Lane Usage.
