MARION CO., Ill. - A Centralia man lost his life yesterday in a crash near Central City after losing control of his vehicle following a centerline-crossing incident.
Illinois State Police in District 12 out of Effingham worked the crash which occurred Saturday (April 15) at 2:28 p.m. (another section of the report said 12:28 p.m.) according to ISP.
ISP said John W. Oettle, 54, was traveling westbound on Green Street Road just east of Brick Hill Road in a black 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup when, one mile east of Central City, he crossed into the eastbound lane. The Silverado then left the roadway to the south, striking a tree.
Oettle was pronounced deceased on scene, ISP said.
The investigation into the crash continues.
