FLORA, Ill. - A truck driver from Flora was injured yesterday in an accident at a major intersection in that town.
Illinois State Police said the accident occurred yesterday morning (Monday, April 10) at 7:55 a.m. on Route 45 northbound at the junction of Route 50 east, on the northwest edge of Flora in Clay County.
ISP said the preliminary investigative details indicate Kenneth R. Newman, no age given, of Flora, was driving a red Kenworth dump truck at that location when he ran off on the shoulder and came back on the roadway.
The dump truck then flipped on its side, dumping the load of rock on the roadway.
Newman was taken to Clay County Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries; he was subsequently cited for Improper Lane Usage.
