CLAY CO.— An Iuka man, charged with DUI, was transported to a local hospital last night (Saturday, February 18) after he lost control of the vehicle he was driving.
According to authorities, at 9:34 p.m. Anthony R. Fields, 46, of Iuka, was traveling southbound on Fairfield Road, approximately 131 feet north of Pope Berry Lane, when he lost control of the dark green 2004 Chevrolet pickup he was driving.
Police say the truck skidded out of control, ran off the roadway to the left, struck the ditch and overturned, coming to final rest overturned, facing northbound in the east ditch.
Fields was transported to the Clay County Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Fields was ultimately charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving While License Revoked, Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
Authorities say that Fields was wearing his seatbelt.
