HAMILTON CO.: Woman who helped beat, terrorize another is off to IDOC

HAMILTON CO., Ill. - Two other people besides Jonathan Trout will be toted off to Illinois Department of Corrections out of Hamilton County as of today.

Hamilton County prosecutor Justin Hood has advised the plea agreements and sentencing of first April Santiago, 38, of McLeansboro. Santiago earlier today (Thursday, February 16) plead guilty to Aggravated Battery, a Class 3 felony. She will serve 4 years and 6 months in the Illinois Department of corrections with 1 year of Mandatory Supervised Release (parole) to follow her time in custody. She was arrested on July 25, 2016 for hitting a victim, Lori Fox, with a wooden stool causing injury to her head. The victim was also tied up for a period of time before police arrived to the scene and arrested April Santiago. Co-defendants are Alan Santiago and Robert Veach, both of whom already took sentences to Department of Corrections.

Then there's Brian L. Dennis, 33 of McLeansboro, who also today plead to Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, a Class 4 felony, and a probation violation for 2015 felony case Intimidation, a Class 3 felony. He will be incarcerated for 2 years in IDOC for 2 years and serve one year of Mandatory Supervised Release (parole). Both cases will be served concurrently with each other.
