SPRINGERTON, Ill. - White County Sheriff’s officials were called to a location in Springerton yesterday after a resident encountered a problem with damage to a building.

Bill Harl reported to authorities that his building, located at 107 E. North Avenue in Springerton (site of the old Harrell Gas Station) was the site of some damage, as Harl had been notified by Curt Rush, the mayor of Springerton on February 14.

Also damaged was the Pepsi machine that sits outside the building.

Harl told Deputy Byrd Huber that Rush had told him he’d heard a vehicle driving around Springerton on Monday, the 13th. Harl also advised that Rush had told him that someone from the Pierce family, who live behind the old gas station on Carter Avenue, had come to his (Rush’s) house and told him that the Pepsi machine had been knocked over.

Rush advised Harl that he’d taken his tractor over to the station, and had set the soda machine back upright.
Harl’s son – who owns the building – checked the machine and found it to be damaged on the inside as well.
There was found to be blue paint transfer to a gutter attached to the building.

Photos were taken of the damage. Anyone with any info may call the sheriff’s department at 618-382-5321.
