LAWRENCE CO., Ill. - Illinois State Police have released the name of a young man who lost his life in Lawrence County yesterday morning, Thursday, January 12, 2017.
ISP said the victim in the single-vehicle crash was Dillon J. Boger, 23, of Vincennes, Indiana.
Troopers from District 12 assisted local authorities with the wreck.
ISP said the accident occurred at approximately 10:35 a.m., when a black 2014 Dodge Avenger Boger was driving eastbound on U.S. 50 approximately a half-mile west of Lawrence County Road 1720 East went off the road in heavy rain.
The vehicle left the roadway to the right in the vicinity of Automotive Technology Systems (ATS), traveled approximately 230 feet, turning clockwise, and went down the south side embankment of 50, striking a tree.
Coroner Shannon Steffey was called, and Boger was pronounced dead at the scene.
