WHITE CO., Ill. - The 81-year-old man who was reported on last week having been jailed after threats to his wife has been released to the custody of his son.
White County State's Attorney Denton Aud has advised that Harold Pennington, of rural Carmi, was released Monday of this week (September 19, 2016) after being jailed on Sept. 14 for threatening to kill his wife, Judy.
Pennington is charged with A Class 3 felony Aggravated Battery/Great Bodily Harm of a Person over the age of 60, and misdemeanor Aggravated Assault of a Person over the age of 60.
Aud said that Pennington's bond was reduced on that day, and that he was released to the custody of his son, which had additional conditions - no contact with his wife, and he must obtain a mental health assessment.
(As a precaution, Judy Pennington, 68, has already taken out an Order of Protection against the old guy, whose mugshot we opted not to run on this post, as it's somewhat depressing; so we have the Monopoly guy instead.)
Pennington is set for a next hearing - a pretrial conference - on October 24.
