Josh Nash
WHITE CO., Ill. - An Edwards County felon whose criminal history includes being peripherally involved in the death of his stepson is going to spend six months in the White County Jail after a sentencing Monday.
Joshua D. Nash, 32, of Grayville, was sentenced to this term of confinement as part of the punishment he'll receive for beating a dog to death May 4.
No information has surfaced as to exactly WHY Nash killed the dog (which he beat repeatedly with a metal "T-rod" generally used to shut off water meters...although how he got his hands on that hasn't surfaced, either), but he was charged the same day with Aggravated DUI/License Suspended or Revoked, so an alcoholic furor isn't out of the question (although the WHY of the alcohol issue isn't answered, either).
Nash pled to the felony DUI on August 2 and received 30 months probation, 50 hours public service, must attend a special facility for alcohol treatment, and pay a whopping total of $2,398 in fines and fees.
There was also a six-month jail sentence involved in that, too. There's no indication of whether these are going to be allowed to be served concurrently.
In Monday's sentencing on the felony Aggravated Cruelty to Animals conviction, along with the six-month jail term, he got an additional 200 hours public service, he must make restitution (apparently it was someone else's dog), and an additional $1,875 in fines and fees.
Nash and his then-wife, Crystal, were hemmed up with Jason Lee Hoy's death in mid-2009. Nash got out of it by pleading to selling Jason's Adderal pills to AJ Heid, who was also living in the residence and had been part of the giving of medicine to the little boy, apparently so the hyperactive child would sleep. Nash got a seven year sentence in IDOC, which of course amounted to a few years, but apparently didn't do any good.
White (or Edwards) Countians will likely have to wait for Nash's next felony to send him back to DOC, since the two he engaged in this year didn't do it.
