Witnesses have advised the authorities that a silver passenger car with an Illinois license plate left the area prior to police arriving. Authorities are looking for that car now.

LAWRENCE CO., Ill. - Police have been called to a situation in the little community surrounding Lake Lawrence east of  Lawrenceville, reference shots being fired at a residence there.

The call came in at about 8:45 p.m. this evening (Sunday, July 31).

According to our sources in Lawrenceville proper, there was a domestic disturbance being called in from Lake Lawrence at about the same time as well, but whether this has anything to do with the shooting is unknown at this time.

In regards to the shooting, a man is reported as having been shot in the leg with a small-caliber weapon; possibly a .22.

The man fled the scene and had approached a neighbor for medical assistance. The man himself is not bearing a weapon; our sources advise the man has told his neighbor that he "doesn't know who shot him."

Authorities arrived at the scene just a few minutes after the man - ostensibly the victim - knocked on the neighbor's door. At last check, they were searching for whoever fired the weapon.
