EDWARDS CO., Ill. - Edwards County State's Attorney Mike Valentine has announced that 18-year old Brendan L. Schell of Mt. Carmel was sentenced today in the Edwards County Circuit Court by Hon. Judge David Frankland to 8 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Schell was also ordered to pay $254.00 restitution to Casey’s as well as court costs. As part of the plea agreement, Schell’s lesser charge of a Class 3 Felony Intimidation was dismissed.
State’s Attorney Valentine commended the work of Chief Roy Mann and Officer Mike Brown of the Grayville Police Department in their investigation of this case as well as the assistance of the Illinois State Police and the Mt. Carmel Police Department in apprehending the defendant. Valentine also commended the employees and manager of the Grayville Casey’s General Store for their participation in aiding in investigation as well as their participation and testimony during preliminary court proceedings.
