WABASH CO.— An elderly Grayville woman was taken into custody by Mt. Carmel authorities Thursday, February 18, after they say she caused a ruckus at the local hospital.

Initial reports indicate that Mt. Carmel city police were called to Wabash General Hospital on a report of some kind of disturbance.

When authorities arrived they say they found 61-year-old Barbara G. Siegert on hospital property causing a commotion.

Police officials say they informed Siegert that she would have to leave and she refused, which lead to her being taken into custody on a preliminary charge of Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.

This isn’t the first time Siegert has been involved in a dust-up with police.

At the time of her arrest at the hospital she was out on bond in a November 2015 case in which she was taken into custody by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department charged with Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer.

In that case, authorities allege that on the way to jail to be booked, the elderly woman kicked out the window of the police cruiser she was being transported in.

On January 12, 2015, Siegert was convicted of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and sentenced to court supervision for one year, ordered to undergo alcohol treatment and to pay $1,847 in fines and fees.

Currently, Siegert is being held in the county jail on no bond.
