DRUG WARRANTS SERVED AT CARMI LOCATIONS

CArMI PDCARMI, Ill. - Carmi Police Chief Jason Carter has issued a press release regarding the warrant activity this morning at three locations in town.

Carter said that at approximately 6 a.m. this morning (Friday, February 19, 2016), his department, along with assistance from the White County Sheriff's Department and the White County State's Attorney, executed two search warrants on residences in Carmi. At approximately 10:30 a.m., a third search warrant was executed. These warrants were obtained after information in reference to drug items and drug activity that were at these residences was gathered. Both the Carmi PD, White County Sheriff's Department and White County State's Attorney continue to work together to be proactive in the drug activity that continues to be a problem in this are.

The locations of the three residences were 904 Oak Street, 1109 Valter Drive, and the third being 627 South Church Street. During a search of these residences, numerous illegal drugs and items were located and seized as evidence. As a result, the following people were arrested: Shawn Peyton, Josette St. John, Michelle Buchanan and Raymond Rountree.

Payton and St. John were both arrested at the 904 Oak St. residence and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Cannabis, Illegal Possession of Hypodermic Syringes, and Endangering the Life or Health of a Child.

Michelle Buchanan

Michelle Buchanan

Buchanan was arrested at the 1109 Valter Drive residence and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Illegal Possession of Hypodermic Syringes.

Raymond Rountree

Raymond Rountree

Rountree was arrested at the 627 S. Church St. residence and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Cannabis, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Obstructing Justice after Attempting to Destroy Evidence.

All subjects were arrested and transported to the City/County Jail. All will be awaiting the setting of a bond by a judge.
