EFFINGHAM CO., Ill.— A Dieterich man had his first appearance this morning in Effingham County, charged in an incident that happened this past weekend wherein police say he stabbed at least three individuals Sunday morning (January 31) at the Edgewood American Legion.
Jacob C. White, 21, of Dieterich, heard the reading of his charges at a hearing today on three counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, a knife, which authorities say he used to perforate Dale E. Dobson, 50, of Mason, Allen J. Hardiek, 39, of Altamont and Sean R. Wilson, 33, of El Paso, Texas (formerly of Mason), in an attack that occurred shortly after midnight Sunday morning.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Department was called out to the scene at approximately 12:38 a.m. that morning but by the time they arrived, within five minutes of the call, White had fled the area.
Dobson and Wilson were transported from the post to St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries while Hardiek drove himself for treatment.
The extent of their injuries has not been released.
White was at some point taken into custody, and made his appearance this morning at 11 a.m.
According to Effingham County Sheriff Dave Mahon, as deputies continue their investigation, there may be additional charges filed in the case.
