MT. CARMEL, Ill. - The Mt. Carmel arrest report is back….! (It kinda disappeared last week…) but it’s returned now, and here are the arrests for the early part of February, 2016.
The report kicks off with a February 2 arrest by Mt. Carmel Police, who busted Heidi A. Divine, 47, of Mt. Carmel after it was discovered she had a Knox County, Indiana, warrant for child neglect and public intoxication. Divine was located in the 700 block of West 6th Street in Mt. Carmel and was subsequently transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was awaiting extradition to Indiana.
A couple of arrests occurred on Thursday, Feb. 4, one of which will be highlighted in the upcoming print version (be sure you have your subscription renewals in and/or your online membership up-to-date). The first, however, was Maxwell A. Birge, 37, of Mt. Carmel, who was arrested after he was stopped for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, Mt. Carmel police said, Birge was operating a motor vehicle on a suspended driver's license. Birge was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was cited for Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Driving While License is Suspended. Birge was held pending the posting of bond.
Then on that same day, Mt. Carmel Police arrested 32-year-old Cameron W. Jones of Bridgeport after the vehicle he was in was stopped for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop it was discovered that Jones was wanted on a Lawrence County Aggravated Assault warrant. Jones was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was released after posting bond. Our Lawrence County peeps will remember Jones as a regular from a few years back (2007-2010 or so) as a violent punk who, we were told back in the days before the arrest of big meth kingpin Derek Hootie Wells, was being groomed to work for Hootie but was considered quite the liability because Jones was TOO violent and couldn’t control himself; he seemed to feel the need to beat up members of Wells’ meth-mule harem, and Hootie was trying to work with Jones’ proclivities when Hootie himself was finally sent off. Apparently, Jones was just a few months ago released from DOC and back into the unsuspecting public. It would appear he’s likely going back to DOC; we’ll try to have an update in the upcoming February/March 2016 edition, so be watching.
On Feb. 6, Mt. Carmel Police arrested 55-year-old Joseph E. Baker of Mt. Carmel after police were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of West 4th Street reference a disturbance. Police were told that Baker caused a disturbance in the neighborhood but there was no elaboration as to what kind of “disturbance.” Baker was subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct and was transported to the Wabash County Jail, where he is being held pending the posting of bond.
On Feb. 7, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Logan T. Vincent, 20, of Vincennes, Indiana, after he was stopped for a traffic violation. According to the police report, the arresting officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Vincent’s underage person. Vincent was then arrested for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Vincent was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was cited for illegal squealing of tires, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, and he was processed under Illinois' zero tolerance law. Vincent was later released.
Then last night (Feb. 8), Mt. Carmel Police arrested Jessica L. Escobedo, 29, of Huntingburg, Indiana. Escobedo was stopped for a traffic violation and during the traffic stop it was discovered that Escobedo was driving on a suspended driver's license. Escobedo was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was cited for driving while suspended. Escobedo was held pending the posting of bond, which occurred that same night and she’s been set for a first appearance March 8.
