The log jam in Lawrence on New Year's Eve, on the west side (facing west off the north-south bridge)
LAWRENCE CO., Ill. - The Illinois Department of Transportation has shut down the bridge over the Embarras on Illinois Route 1 north of Lawrenceville.
According to IDOT, the bridge was damaged during the New Year's Eve flood and the logjam that happened on the west side of the bridge. The shutdown is to make repairs.
Our sources in the area advise that the shutdown occurred at some point in time today, but didn't know exactly when.
The bridge is the most convenient access out of town to the north, but travelers can go through other points to reach Illinois 1 north out of Lawrenceville, by taking Business 50 east or west out of town and circling back to 1 to the north.
