WHITE CO.— In the realm of criminal misdemeanors, this issue has a repeat offender back in print and a pair of relative first-timers.
Convicted drug felon Brandon K. Bebout, 33, has added a misdemeanor to his crim resumè.
Authorities say that on July 26, Bebout committed the offense of Criminal Damage to Property when he damaged property belonging to Gary Cates, identified as a window of a screen door, located at the 400 block of South Church St.
Bebout doesn’t appear to be fond of following the rules.
He was convicted February 22, 2001 of felony Aggravated Battery in a Public Place and Unlawful Possession/Consumption of Liquor by a Minor and sentenced to conditional discharge for two years.
When he screwed that up four months later, on June 28, 2001, he was re-sentenced to 90 days in the county jail and probation for two years.
And then again August 21, 2003, after some unknown infraction, he was re-sentenced to conditional discharge for another two years.
Bebout earned himself another felony and a trip to the Illinois Department of Corrections February 28, 2005 when he was convicted of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (prescription medication).
By October 24, 2006 he had been convicted of Theft and a pair of Forgery counts were dismissed as part of a plea deal and sentenced to conditional discharge for one year.
Then on December 4, 2008 he worked his way up to a Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol conviction for which he was sentenced to probation for two years, ordered to get alcohol treatment and attend a special facility.
Apparently whatever he learned from the treatment or at the special facility, where no doubt lots of hugging goes on, did not include breaking windows…or even instruction that he should NOT break them.
Cash bond in Bebout’s latest criminal case was set at $1,500.
Bat attack
Next up on the misdemeanor hit list is Kristopher D. Norvell, age 36, of 301 Twelfth St., Carmi.
Norvell has been charged with Domestic Battery after authorities say on July 24, without legal justification, he caused bodily harm to one Bridgett Norvell, described only as a “family member.”
Charges allege that Kristopher struck Bridgett on her thighs with a bat. Presumably since there wasn’t a charge of animal cruelty, it’s safe to assume that it was a ‘baseball bat,’ but around these parts, one can never tell.
Cash bond in Kristopher’s case was set at $500.
Dawn
And Mitchell Ryan Kleinschmidt, 25, of the 200 block of South Third St., Grayville, has been charged with Retail Theft.
Formal charges allege that on July 22 Kleinschmidt stole a 9-oz. bottle of Dawn soap from the local Dollar General Store, located at 127 West Industrial Dr., Grayville.
Kleinschmidt was released from police custody after he posted a $150 cash bond.
The address he gave on his bond sheet was 619 Oxford St., Grayville.
There was no explanation on said sheet of why on earth anyone would want just a 9-oz. bottle of dish detergent…but this is Grayville we’re talking about here, after all.
