CLAY CO.—A Clay County incorrigible has finally been sent to prison, and judging by his mugshot intake photo, he doesn’t seem to broken up about it.

But for those who know and have suffered at the hand of Timothy Highsmith, 45, such a mug is not surprising.

Highsmith finally came to be an inmate of Illinois’ Department of Corrections on July 22, this after he was finally sentenced to three and a half years on a 2014 Aggravated DUI Resulting in Great Bodily Harm to Clay County woman Jamey Tolliver, this on August 15 of that year.

Highsmith was able to post bond and made his way about the countryside generally causing grief for quite some time for those around Tolliver, who had just the month before lost her husband in a logging accident in Franklin County.

Many were wondering what the delay was in getting Highsmith not only off the streets, but also to get his arrogant attitude in check.

That finally happened when Judge Sherri Tungate sentenced Highsmith to the DOC term.

Highsmith has an incredibly-extensive record in and around Clay, with misdemeanors and felonies ranging from drugs, property damage, battery, mob action, aggravating fleeing of police, and felon in possession of a weapon or firearm, the latter two in which he seemed to specialize.

In the current case, there’s been no drug or alcohol counseling ordered, so the prison stint will probably be just a short dry period of Highsmith.

He has, however, been ordered to pay an enormous total of $8,049.12 in fines and fees, of which $4,587.12 is in restitution to Tolliver.

Only $500 – his bond, transferred from a previous 2013 misdemeanor – has been paid in the fines and fees. The rest will apparently have to wait til he gets out of prison and becomes gainfully employed…if that ever happens.

Highsmith’s insouciant expression in one of his intake prison mugs seems to indicate that it might not.
