WABASH CO., Ill.--The usual assortment of crims in Wabash County is down two this week after sentencings in criminal court, as announced by prosecutor Cassandra Goldman.
The first is a drug crim whose sentencing occurred yesterday, August 18. That's be Frank E. Shoultz, 39, of Mt. Carmel, who was sent off to DOC by Judge Chris Weber. Shoultz was charged earlier this year (January 20) with Class 3 felony Possession of Meth.
As a sentence, he was ordered to serve 3 years in Illinois Department of Corrections, followed by one year of MSR (mandatory supervised release, aka parole).
Besides clearing the streets of Mt. Carmel of the dopers, Goldman has also assisted the children of the area by getting a sex offender out of their midst.
This would be Daniel E. Street, 38, of Mt. Carmel, a former car salesman who was charged just this April with a horrific crime wherein he gave his victim, a family member about age 6 or 7, marijuana in order to drug her, then had sex with her, this back in April of 2014.
A day after a regularly-scheduled pretrial conference set for August 10, on the 11th Street entered a plea to the single charge of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a victim under the age of 13, a Class X felony charge.
Held on a $500,000 bail ($50,000 cash bond) since his April 20 arrest, he'll be sent off to DOC for 20 years, and must serve at least 85 percent of that, and must pay $1,812 in fines and fees, none of which has been collected.
