WHITE CO., Ill.--Illinois State Police were called to the scene of a traffic crash early this morning on Illinois 1 at I-64.
The crash happened at 4:40 a.m. this morning, Friday, July 10, 2015.
According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, the driver of a 2009 Dodge Caravan, Kevin D. Burnett, 41, of Carmi, was northbound on Illinois Route 1, attempting to make a left hand turn onto the eastbound on-ramp of Interstate 64, when he failed to yield for southbound traffic.
As Burnett begin his turn, crossing the southbound lane of Illinois Route 1, he was struck by a southbound 1995 Kenworth truck, driven by Martin R. Johnson, 63, of Albion.
Neither driver reported any injuries.
In addition, two passengers in Burnett's vehicle, Tara L. Burnett, 41, and Dayna M. Burnett, 20, both of Carmi, also did not report any injuries as a result of the traffic crash. Both vehicles were towed from the crash scene.
ISP District 19 was assisted at the crash scene by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), White County Ambulance Service, and Little Wabash Fire and Rescue.
Kevin D. Burnett was cited for Failure to Yield - Turning Left.
