RICHLAND CO., Ill.---Illinois State Police District 12 has issued a press release with further details regarding the accident early Saturday morning in Richland County, which proved fatal for a young local Richland County man.
According to ISP's preliminary investigative details, Brandon L. Blackford, 19, of Olney, was driving a Yamaha ATV eastbound one mile west of Noble on US 50 in the area of Richland CR 300E at approximately 2:13 a.m. Saturday morning. At that time, Gerald Foster was traveling westbound on US 50 in the area Richland CR 300E in a 2008 Chevy and drove west in the eastbound lane in an apparent attempt to turn left/south onto CR 300E.
The two collided in the eastbound lane.
Blackford was transported to Richland Memorial Hospital then later transferred to Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, Ind., where he later succumbed to his injuries.
ISP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, Richland Co Sheriff’s Department and Noble-Wakefield Fire Department assisted. The crash remains under investigation.
Gerald Foster was cited for DUI-Alcohol and Improper Lane Usage; additional charges are pending.
