WABASH CO., Ill.---Authorities in Wabash County have announced that the body of a man missing since Saturday morning has been located.
Aaron W. Salter, 22, of Keensburg, was reported missing early Saturday, March 21, after a UTV he had been riding in/near the backwater of the Wabash River was found submerged. A dog was with him at the time, and that dog made it out of the area and to a local residence; but there was no sign of Salter.
Sheriff Derek Morgan had a crew working the area and dragging the river, even after the flood stage had dropped a couple of feet. It's unclear under what circumstances Salter's body was found this morning; when we learn more, we'll bring it.
The Wabash County Sheriff's Department has been assisted by these agencies in this search for Salter: Illinois Department of Conservation, Indiana Department of Conservation, Illinois State Police, Mt. Carmel, Allendale, Bellmont, and Keensburg Fire Departments, as well as the Wabash County Emergency Management Agency.
ADDITIONAL:
Wabash County Coroner's Office has indicated that the body was found 100 yards north of North 600 Blvd and a half-mile west of East 470 Lane. Approximate location shown here; looks like it is due west of the village of Cowling, south of Keensburg.
