CLAY CO.—The young former Marine taken into police custody in early February over child porn and molestation charges remains in custody in Clay County pending trial.
And a jury trial date has been set, but whether that will remain in place and followed through on is yet to be seen.
Mychal Bush-King, 22, stands charged of Possession of Child Pornography in which it’s alleged that on February 8, he had in his possession a video on a cell phone of a female minor under the age of 18, which depicted the unclothed pubic area and breast of the child; and with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, in which it’s alleged that on Feb. 6 and Feb. 8, he had sex with the same female, who was at least 13 but under the age of 17 and he was at least five years older than she.
Bush-King was alleged by authorities to have had in his possession other photographs along the same lines, but no charges have resulted from this claim.
Bush-King was said to have been filming a neighbor girl with whom he was having sex after she was sneaking out in order to attend underage drinking parties at Bush-King’s residence in Flora.
He appeared in court on March 2 and entered a plea of not guilty to both counts after having had a motion for a bond reduction denied.
On that same date, he made a request for a jury trial, to which he’s entitled within 120 days of incarceration as he hasn’t yet been able to make the $100,000 cash bond set upon his Feb. 9 arrest.
A next hearing is set for April 20, barring any problem with a court reporter, as Illinois is out of money to pay for those right now.
