WILLIAMSON CO., Ill.---Jury selection went forward today in the case of a Marion man, originally hailing from Noble in Richland County, accused of a sex crime against a child...but a plea disrupted the whole thing.
After the jury had been selected and seated, at 9 a.m. this morning (Wednesday, March 11) to hear the case of Eugene F. (Tiny) Lee, 54, of Marion, Lee plead guilty to one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault Of A Child.
The charge was a Class X felony, as the victim was an eight-year-old male; it dated back to June of last year.
There were three initial charges of the same count; the plea was entered to one.
Lee has a phenomenally-prolific record of felony charges and a few convictions in Richland County, where a person is more likely to get away with serious crimes than they are in Williamson. The charges in Richland largely relate to burglaries and theft; this is apparently Lee's first foray into the world of perversions with children.
Online records don't show when sentencing might be set; neither did a small press release coming from the Williamson County state's attorney's office. More information will be forthcoming.
